Our chapter of Stonewall was created on July 17, 2005. We are indebted to those who came before us, our founding board members David Burr, Susan Eggman, Joel Reyna, Jr. and Renee Hall.

Executive Board
President, AJ Hurford has been living in the Stockton area for the past 5 years since joining The Wine Group, where she currently serves as the Director of Corporate Safety. She enlisted in the US Army at the age of 20 and went on to get her Bachelors of Science in Professional Aeronautics and a Masters in Organizational Management. As a pilot of a Blackhawk Helicopter she has seen active duty all over the world including Bosnia, Korea, Panama, Germany and many other South and Central American countries. Having left the military after 12 years of active duty, AJ continued military service with the California National Guard and was recruited by Constellation Brands as a Bottling Supervisor and then as a Champagne Manager. She met her partner Kitty when they both worked for Constellation. They purchased a home in the Victory Park area where they continue to be busy working on the many projects of a classic older home. Despite having been an active voter since the age of 18, she did not become politically active until moving to Stockton where she noticed a grass roots approach to local, state, and federal elections and furthering LGBT issues. She currently is serving a second appointment to the Stockton Municipal Utility District Citizens Advisory Group. When not doing projects or working, AJ enjoys golf, hiking, kayaking and traveling with Kitty.
Vice-President, Nicholas Hatten is a political/governmental relations consultant who has served on the AIDSWalk SJ and Charterhouse Center for Families Board of Directors. He currently serves as the Chair of the San Joaquin County Democratic Party and as the Executive Director of San Joaquin Pride Center.
Secretary, Becca Borlik grew up traveling the world as an army brat. Thirteen years ago, she arrived in Stockton to attend University of the Pacific. After college she began teaching in area schools. Eager to be a role model for her students, she joined groups like Stonewall and the ACLU, whose mission is to seek out justice and equality for all. As secretary, her goal is to assist the Executive Board and maintain clear communication among the committees and membership.
Treasurer, Mercy Sordo has been a resident of the Central Valley for over 20 years and is a founding member of the Central Valley Stonewall Democratic Club. She joined Stonewall because she believes it is important to ensure gay issues are being addressed in the democratic party and that LGBT people have a voice in politics. As Treasurer, Mercy is working to streamline the money management process in order to smooth transitions between administrations.
